Screening for Down’s Syndrome
Depending on the type of screening test you had, chemicals in your blood were measured. A measurement of the back of the baby’s neck (nuchal translucency scan) may also have been taken.
To work out the chance of your baby having Down’s syndrome, a computer programme then used:
- your age;
- the results of the blood test;
- the number of weeks you have been pregnant;
- your weight;
- if a ‘combined test’ was used, the nuchal translucency measurement.
