What is Down’s Syndrome?
- Down’s Syndrome is a condition caused by an extra chromosome. Instead of 46, there are 47 chromosomes in each cell.
- The condition leads to a range of learning disabilities and physical problems (see appearance and abilities).
- There is no cure, even if the condition is diagnosed before the baby is born.
- Most people with Down’s syndrome can lead nearly independent lives, but some need more support than others
